About Jodee

I started with this work as a young child who saw colors around people, plants, and animals. As many young children in our society with this gift I was looked at as "weird" and "abnormal" and as such was discouraged from saying what I saw. My gifts therefore went underground. When I was sixteen I was dating a boy who looked at me and asked a simple, yet life-altering question. "Why when you look at me do you not look at me in the eyes but at my mouth?" It was then that I looked at him in the eyes and the floodgates opened. Coincidentally (of course now I know differently) it was around this time that my mother started going to a psychic and was told to bring me in. The psychic taught me how to control my gifts and always surround myself with white light - she was the first teacher on my path.

On my journey I have had a serious of tests, many periods of darkness, and many sparks of light. During this time I studied with various teachers. I studied in Colorado with a Medicine Woman, have participated in many sweat lodges, healing ceremonies and circles, and despachos. I studied with Grandfather Albert of the Micmac Tribe. I studied with several Shamans in Peru where I participated in the traditional Ayuwaska Ceremony. Currently I am studying Jewish Shamanic Healing with Rabbi Gershon Winkler and Miriam Maron.

Jodee with wolf I have my Masters Degree in Public Administration from New York University and thought that I was going to make change through Public Policy - maybe even become a Congresswoman or Senator. Yet I kept being called back to learning about native and shamanic traditions and thought I was doing it (which in part I was) to heal myself. This is not the work that I wanted to do for my profession. When I received the information that I was to step into this space as Shaman I politely declined. Little did I know that it was not an invitation I could decline and that it would keep coming back more forcefully until I accepted - which I have now done.

I bring to this work my knowledge of the light. Realizing that I am only a conduit for the Universal Light, I wish to help others see the light within themselves and others.

I create sacred space by calling in Spirit to come and be with us as we set aside time and place for healing. The Light protects us as we work, allowing only healing, compassion and harmonious energies to enter. My spirit helpers are my guides. I work with a team of strong, loving spirits who appear to me as animal or human. Each spirit helper works in a particular way and specializes in certain kinds of healing work.

When I do healing work I enter an altered state of consciousness and journey on the client's behalf through non-ordinary reality, often using a drum or rattle as I travel. My helpers guide me as I am carried along with a steady rhythmic beat to do the work that is necessary to bring the person into anyi (wholeness).
