Where did the name Marah Light come from?

I was born into the Jewish religion yet I never felt the spiritual connection that one should have to their religion. To me, religion meant someplace that my parents dragged me to a few times a year - with no meaning to my everyday life. As you can read in the About Jodee section of this website, I have always had a deep spiritual nature and was not being fed by this religion called Judaism. I went in a different direction and found my spiritual connection through native and shamanic teachings. In the past few years I have wanted to find a way to bring the religion of my birth together with the spiritual knowing that I had amassed. Through the work that I have done with Rabbi Gershon Winkler and Miriam Maron, I found out that the Jewish religion has a rich history of Shamanic traditions that went underground for many centuries.

When it was time for me to step into my place as a Shaman, I heard that it was also time for me to receive my Spiritual Name and my purpose for being here on this Earth at this time. The information was that I am to be a mirror of the light in other people. I then came to learn that Marah means Mirror in Hebrew. It was a natural fit!

My Power Animal is the wolf and so my Spirit name and the name I use in ceremony is Marah Light Wolf.
